Chester Village Cemetery, one of the oldest graveyards in the state, was purchased from Capt. Jonathan Blunt for 70 pounds in 1751. Signed stones by some of the finest stone sculptors in New England are found here, including work by Stephen and Abel Webster, John Marble, John Wight, and Timothy Eastman. Those buried here include Revolutionary heroes, two governors of the state, Samuel and John Bell, William Richardson, Chief Justice of the N. H. Supreme Court, Isaac Blasdel, the clockmaker, and others.
