William J. Stafford Cemetery is one of the oldest Anglo-American cemeteries in Texas. On Aug. 16, 1824, the Mexican government deeded him 6.8197 acres. Burials listed here include William Joseph Stafford, Mar. 22, 1764 - Sept. 23, 1840; Martha Ann Cartwright Stafford, Jan. 28, 1800 - Mar. 14, 1842; Paschal Paolo Borden, 1806 - Apr. 28, 1864; Harvey Stafford, 1811 - Apr. 21, 1837; and Raymond Stafford, 186 -186, a scout for Austin's "Old 300."
