Laurel-Snow State Natural Area is a protected state landscape near Dayton, Tennessee, on Walden Ridge of the Cumberland Plateau. Spanning 2,259 acres, it is a Tennessee Class II Natural-Scientific State Natural Area managed by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and forms part of the Cumberland Trail. Its best-known features are Laurel Falls, an 80-foot drop, and Snow Falls, a 12-foot cascade, two of four waterfalls set within steep forested gorge terrain. The Laurel-Snow Trail was Tennessee’s first National Recreation Trail, and a 710-acre tract once known as the Bowater pocket wilderness was later incorporated into the preserve.
