Robert C. Kirkpatrick and his four sons traveled by railroad from Tennessee to California in 1876. After learning that land in Menifee could be homesteaded, each filed on 160 acres at this location. The oldest son, William, and his wife Callie lived here the longest, and their son Leonard was the last family member on the land before selling it by 1960. The property was later developed as Menifee Lakes.
