Globe Ranger Station serves as the main office of the Globe Ranger District in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest, overseeing about 450,000 acres north, south, and west of Globe where desert, chaparral, and pinyon-juniper landscapes converge. Built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and historically known as the Pinal Ranger Station, it was designed by U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service architects during the Great Depression as both office space and institutional housing. Noted for its Spanish-style architecture, the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 for its design and its association with the Forest Service’s Depression-era response, and it also serves as the home base for the Globe Hotshots wildfire crew.
