The Whitewater Canal Trail runs 2.6 miles on a basically level water-level route with a solid crushed-stone surface suitable for walking or bicycling. It passes farm fields and a wooded area on the way to the site of the Twin Locks, with places along the route highlighting canal and railroad history and natural features of the Whitewater River Valley. Duck Creek Aqueduct stands here as the only covered bridge aqueduct in the United States. Restored Lock #24 offers a sense of how canal locks worked, and three railroad mileposts along the full trail mark distance from Cincinnati and recall that the railroad also used this historic canal corridor. A river overlook provides views of the Whitewater River, and a short distance beyond it the route reaches the ruins of the Twin Locks, where a side trail leads to a water-level view of the lock.
