In gratitude to the thousands of men and women who served the country during the Vietnam War, the people of Texas dedicate U.S. 83, which runs across the state from its southernmost tip to its northernmost point, and call on travelers to remember those who gave up their lives, their youth, or their hopes in that long and bitter conflict, not to forget those who did not return, and to remember the sacrifices of those who came home.
