Breakneck Hill
Nature
Breakneck Hill is a 1,872-foot mountain in Allegany County, western Maryland, within the Ridge and Valley section of the Appalachian Mountains. Located just south of Interstate 68, across from Rocky Gap State Park, and about 2 miles northwest of Rush, it is part of the long, folded ridges that characterize this landscape. The mountain’s significance lies in how it reflects the region’s defining terrain, where narrow valleys and parallel ridgelines shape both the scenery and the routes people use to travel through this part of the Appalachians.
