The Holiday Drive-In Marquee 1953

The Holiday Drive-In operated from 1953 until 1988. Drive-in theaters were popular in the 1950s and 1960s, especially among young families and amorous couples, where films could be viewed from the relative privacy of an automobile. The Holiday Drive-In marquee is one of the few extant examples in Boulder of the "Futuristic" Googie style. Common during the same era as drive-ins, Googie signs sought to grab attention with wild shapes, flashy neon, and blinking arrows.
