Joseph Erwin, a Revolutionary soldier from N.C., was buried on this site with his wife, Lavinia T. Erwin, and their daughter, Eliza E. Wilson. Joseph Erwin lived from 1762 to 1829, Lavinia T. Erwin from 1763 to 1836, and Eliza E. Wilson from 1796 to 1834.
