Last Recorded Indian Raid
History
In Oct. 1792, ten Indians attacked a party of travelers at Oven Spring. Two men and one woman were killed, a girl and a woman were captured, and five pack horses were taken. Settlers under the leadership of Capt. William Edgar pursued the raiding party for four days, overtook them at Roberts Spring, killed all the Indians, and rescued the woman and girl. Records show no later raid in the area.
