Hillside Haven Mound is a small Native American earthen mound in wooded hillside terrain in southwestern Ohio, southwest of Oakland in Clinton County. Although now about 2.5 feet high and 33 feet in diameter, it was likely originally conical. Pottery found by Wilmington College archaeologists connects the site to the Adena culture, and evidence suggests it is a burial mound built over an important person after the ceremonial burning of a small log structure around the body. Not fully excavated, it may still contain ceremonial and practical objects. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, it is one of Clinton County’s last well-preserved prehistoric mounds.
