Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a 9.49-acre botanical garden in southeastern Portland, Oregon, between Reed College and Eastmoreland Golf Course. Named for the springs on the site, it began in 1950 as a rhododendron test garden on land that had included brush, blackberries, native trees, and remnants of a Shakespeare theater built by Reed College students. Officially renamed in 1964, it now features more than 2,500 rhododendrons, azaleas, and other plants around lakes, paths, a fountain, and waterfalls. Its less manicured forest, marsh, and shrub areas also support abundant wildlife, including winter waterfowl and 94 recorded bird species.
