Gothic Peak is a 6,213-foot mountain in Washington’s North Cascades near Barlow Pass and the Monte Cristo area, rising above Gothic Basin within Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Named for early prospector William Gothic, one of the first to stake a claim in the basin, its official name was adopted in 1967, preserving a mining-era connection. The first recorded ascent came on June 10, 1934, by Don Blair, Willard Carr, Norval Grigg, and Art Winder. Shaped by tectonic, volcanic, and glacial forces, the peak anchors a dramatic alpine landscape and is now valued as a scenic and demanding climb in the Monte Cristo backcountry.
