Morning Star Peak is a 6,020-foot summit in Washington’s North Cascades near Monte Cristo, within Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Near the western edge of the range, it rises in a landscape of steep ridges and deep glacial valleys shaped by uplift, faulting, repeated glaciation, older terrane accretion, and later Cascade volcanism. Glacier Peak lies nearby to the east-northeast, and runoff from Morning Star Peak drains south toward the Sultan River and north into the Stillaguamish headwaters. In the region’s marine west coast climate, heavy winter precipitation, wet snow, and avalanche danger contrast with the clearer climbing season from July through September. Today the peak is valued for recreation, mountain travel, and classic North Cascades scenery.
