Sterling Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated on May 21, 1989, in honor of all Sterling veterans who served their country in war and peace. Among them, the following men paid the supreme sacrifice: PFC Harry T. Sayles, 1891–1918, France, U.S. Army; PFC Jeffrey J. Peloquin, 1924–1944, Normandy, U.S. Army; ARM 2G Gilbert E. Marriott, 1921–1944, Aleutian Islands, U.S. Navy; Sgt RM Joseph R. Dochek, 1916–1945, Germany, U.S. Army; and Sp4 Arthur J. Artkop, 1948–1969, Vietnam, U.S. Army.
