Completed in 1948 in Fox Point, Wisconsin, the Albert and Edith Adelman House is a Frank Lloyd Wright design created for Albert and Edith Adelman and their three sons. Emerging from Wright’s long relationship with the Adelman family, it became one of the few commissions for them that was actually built after he revised an initially far more expensive plan. The house blends the horizontal character of Wright’s Prairie School work with the simpler aims of his Usonian houses, using low-maintenance materials, built-in furnishings, and a long, carefully organized plan. Sited on a wooded lot overlooking a ravine, it remains a preserved example of Wright’s late residential work in Wisconsin.
