Thousand Springs State Park unites several separate sites in southern Idaho’s Hagerman Valley along the Snake River canyon, including Billingsley Creek, Earl M. Hardy Box Canyon Springs Nature Preserve, Malad Gorge, Niagara Springs, and Ritter Island. Created in 2005 by combining four state parks and later adding another unit, it blends recreation, conservation, and history. Its landscapes feature major spring-fed waters, waterfalls, basalt cliffs, and deep canyons, with some of the region’s most dramatic scenery at Box Canyon Springs and along the Snake River. The park also preserves wildlife habitat, the homesite of author Vardis Fisher, and a visible stretch of the Oregon Trail.
