Amicalola Falls is a 729-foot waterfall on Amicalola Creek in Georgia and, at 222 meters, the highest waterfall in the state. Widely regarded as one of Georgia’s Seven Natural Wonders, it is the centerpiece of Amicalola Falls State Park and one of the state’s best-known waterfalls. Its name comes from the Cherokee term ama uqwalelvyi, meaning “tumbling waters,” reflecting the character of this striking cascade. Beyond its scenic appeal, the falls occupy an important place in Georgia’s natural heritage.
