Zona Heaster Shue, interred in a nearby cemetery, died in 1897 and her death was presumed natural until her spirit appeared to her mother and described how her husband Edward had killed her. An autopsy of her exhumed body verified that account, and Edward was found guilty of murder and sentenced to the state prison. It is the only known case in which testimony from a ghost helped convict a murderer.
