The Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine, is a nonprofit institution devoted to American art with a special emphasis on Maine’s role in that history. Its permanent collection spans American painting and sculpture, from artists such as Gilbert Stuart, Winslow Homer, and Childe Hassam to a significant body of work by sculptor Louise Nevelson, alongside galleries for contemporary art. It is especially renowned for one of the nation’s largest collections of works by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. Its holdings also include the Olson House in Cushing and the Farnsworth Homestead, connecting Maine’s places and communities to American art.
