Pulp Mill Covered Bridge, also called the Paper Mill Covered Bridge, crosses Otter Creek on Seymour Street between Middlebury and Weybridge, Vermont. Known for its unusual double-barreled covered form, it carries two lanes and is one of only seven two-lane covered bridges in the United States, one of two in Vermont, and the only one in the state still open to regular traffic. Regarded as Vermont’s oldest covered bridge and among the nation’s oldest surviving examples, it has been repeatedly altered and repaired over time, evolving from a Burr arch bridge into a three-span structure with laminated arches, King post trusses, piers, and an exterior walkway.
