North Kaibab Trail
Nature
1
The North Kaibab Trail is the main route from Grand Canyon’s North Rim to the Colorado River, descending 14 miles from near Roaring Springs Canyon to Bright Angel Campground and Phantom Ranch. Because the North Rim is snowbound much of the year, road access is usually seasonal, though the trail can still be reached on foot from the South Rim or by winter travel from Jacob Lake. Part of the Arizona Trail, it passes Roaring Springs, Ribbon Falls, and the Box. Despite regular maintenance and ranger patrols, it remains a strenuous corridor trail with limited camping, permit requirements, and serious hazards including heat, storms, flash flooding, rockfall, wildlife, and river dangers.
