Mount Goethe is a 13,270-foot summit in Fresno County, California, ranking as the state's 96th highest peak. It was named for the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, author of Faust. The mountain's first recorded ascent took place in 1933, when David Brower and George Rockwood climbed it. A nearby feature, Goethe Glacier, also bears the same name.
