Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his cavalry came here three times on reconnaissance missions from Hopkinsville. They captured U.S.A. arms and equipment here on November 24, 1861. They moved through here on December 28 on the way to victory over a larger U.S.A. force at Sacramento and returned to camp here that night. In January 1862, they came here to burn the Pond River bridges and delay the Union army.
