Little Comrade
Nature
Little Comrade is a small summit on the western edge of Washington’s Cascade Range in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, near the Middle Fork Snoqualmie valley. Though not especially high in absolute elevation, it is distinguished by its dramatic rise, climbing more than 3,500 feet above the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River in just 1.3 miles. Its setting reflects the Cascades’ marine west coast climate, with heavy winter precipitation, wet dense snowfall, avalanche danger, and clearer summer weather under Pacific high pressure. The surrounding terrain was shaped over millions of years by uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation, with Pleistocene ice carving the region’s deep U-shaped valleys.
