Nature
Mount Cowen is an 11,217-foot mountain in Montana’s Absaroka Range, within Gallatin National Forest. Rising in a rugged alpine section known for high summits, it is part of the dramatic upland landscape of the Absarokas. Small glacierets cling to its flanks, especially on the northern slopes, reflecting colder conditions that persist on the mountain despite their limited size. The peak’s significance lies chiefly in its place within Montana’s mountainous interior and the striking high-country terrain that characterizes this part of the range.
