Elizabeth Gilmore came to this country from the North of Ireland in the fall of 1777, served as a nurse in Washington's Army at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-78, and was a soldier of the American Revolution from Northumberland County in the company called "Rangers on the Frontier," as recorded in the Pennsylvania Archives. In 1780, Elizabeth Gilmore and John Berry, a Continental Soldier, were married, and together they continued in the army until the close of the War of Independence. Elizabeth Gilmore Berry died August 21, 1824.
