Tamarack Ski Area was a small ski hill on East Moscow Mountain in north central Idaho, about 7 miles northwest of Troy. Opened in January 1966 as Moscow Mountain Ski Area and renamed later that year, it served the Palouse, especially students from the University of Idaho and Washington State University. Operating intermittently because snowfall varied, it had a T-bar, a rope tow, a 600-foot vertical drop, and a distinctive three-story A-frame day lodge. The area closed after Latah County seized its leasehold improvements for back taxes in 1992; the T-bar was sold to Cottonwood Butte, and the lodge was later demolished.
