Nature
Stripe Mountain is a 9,001-foot summit in Idaho, the highest point in both the South Clearwater Mountains and the entire Clearwater Mountains. Part of the Bitterroot Range within the Rocky Mountains, it rises in the Idaho panhandle. Its ridgeline marks the boundary between Idaho County and Lemhi County. The mountain spans two national forests, with its Idaho County side in Bitterroot National Forest and its Lemhi County side in Salmon-Challis National Forest. The whole mountain also lies within the Frank Church–River of No Return Wilderness Area, giving it importance both as a regional high point and as part of a vast protected landscape.
