The gallant sailors of the U.S. Merchant Marine and the U.S. Navy Armed Guard sailed, fought, and died on famous Liberty Ships and other merchant ships of the U.S. Maritime Service during World War II, and this community is forever grateful for their service and courage during that world conflict.
