Gloster

Gloster City was chartered on Mar. 11, 1884. It was named for Capt. Arthur W. Gloster, a railroad engineer. The town is located on the watershed of the Amite and Mississippi Rivers at an elevation of 435 feet. On Apr. 6, 1935, a tornado struck the town and killed 9 residents.
