This building was once one of ten toll lodges on William K. Vanderbilt, Jr.'s Long Island Motor Parkway, which existed from 1908 until 1938 and ran from Queens through eastern Garden City to Lake Ronkonkoma. The Garden City lodge was located near Clinton Road until 19899. It was then moved by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce to its present location and serves as its office.
