Sanderson Covered Bridge in Brandon, Vermont, carries Pearl Street over Otter Creek about 1.3 miles west of the village center. Built around 1840, it is one of Vermont’s oldest covered bridges and the only surviving 19th-century bridge in Brandon. The single-span Town lattice truss measures 123 feet in truss length and 131.5 feet overall, with marble-slab abutments reinforced by concrete, vertical board siding, simple pilastered portals, and a wooden deck later strengthened with laminated beams. Its significance grew after Dean Covered Bridge was destroyed by arson in 1986, leaving it as Brandon’s sole remaining covered bridge from that era.
