Marion Brooks Natural Area
Nature
Marion Brooks Natural Area is a 917-acre protected tract in Pennsylvania within Moshannon State Forest, on the northwest edge of the Quehanna Wild Area in Benezette Township. Established to protect one of the largest known stands of white birch in the eastern United States, it preserves a grove of special importance because this part of Pennsylvania lies near the species’ southern native limit. The tract was originally called Paige Run Natural Area and was renamed in 1975 for local environmentalist Marion E. Brooks.
