Nature
Blue Springs Creek Conservation Area is an 859-acre protected landscape in Missouri southwest of Bourbon, named for the creek that runs 3.7 miles through it to the Meramec River. Its mix of forest, grassland, and glades provides habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrels, and quail, while the creek supports managed rainbow trout and is supplied by four springs in its watershed. The Missouri Department of Conservation acquired the area from the Army Corps of Engineers in 1983 and expanded it in 1992. It continues to serve as a managed recreation and wildlife area with a boat launch, parking areas, and regulated hunting and fishing.
