Life in a CCC camp followed a strict daily routine, beginning with reveille at 6:00 AM and ending with lights out at 10:00 PM, with set times for meals, education, recreation, and work. Camp life brought 200 men of diverse backgrounds into close quarters, where each day included intensive physical labor, hearty meals, sound sleep, and youthful antics remembered fondly by former campers. For impoverished young men, the experience fostered gratefulness, satisfaction, hope, opportunity, pride, and personal growth.
