Ramapo Valley County Reservation
Nature
Ramapo Valley County Reservation is a 4,000-acre county park in Mahwah, New Jersey, between Ringwood State Park and Ramapo Mountain State Forest on the boundary of the Piedmont and Highlands provinces. Known for water- and woodland-based recreation, it has trails along a mountain brook and waterfall that connect to the wider regional trail network. Fishing is available in the Ramapo River, Scarlet Oak Pond, and MacMillan Reservoir, and the park also permits tent camping and carry-in access for canoe, kayak, and raft users. Used by nearby Ramapo College as an Environmental Science laboratory, it is also a geocaching destination and an important Bergen County open space.
