The Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis Electric Railroad was built along the route later used by WB&A Road. Using the most advanced technology of its time, this high-speed line provided passenger and freight service between Baltimore and Washington, with two branches serving Annapolis. It played an instrumental role in the opening of Camp Meade and transported troops during World War I.
