South Park is a 2,013-acre county park in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, spanning Bethel Park municipality and South Park Township about 15 miles south of Downtown Pittsburgh. Completed in 1931 as a large regional recreation area, it remains a major public park with facilities including a wave pool, golf course, ice skating rink, picnic groves, tennis courts, trails, and year-round environmental education through the South Park Nature Center and Allegheny County Park Rangers. The park also served for decades as the county fairgrounds, drawing around half a million visitors each season until 1971. Its Oliver Miller Homestead ties the park to the Whiskey Rebellion and an earlier era of western Pennsylvania history.
