Mini-Wakan State Park is a twenty-acre lakeside park on the north shore of Big Spirit Lake, north of Spirit Lake, Iowa, with facilities for picnicking, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, and fishing, and trail connections into Dickinson County, Iowa, and Jackson County, Minnesota. The park began with twelve and a half acres acquired by local residents, and its early development was carried out in 1933 by Civilian Conservation Corps Company 778. Crews built core features including a road, picnic and parking areas, stone gate pillars, shoreline riprap, and a shelter house completed in 1934. Its surviving CCC-era landscape and lake setting later earned listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.
