Maumee State Forest is a protected forest in northwestern Ohio spanning Fulton, Henry, and Lucas counties on 3,452 acres of mostly flat land. The state began assembling it in 1946 from land previously cleared for farming, and it reached its present size in 2023. Managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry, it offers about 66 miles of hiking trails, 8 miles of bridle trails, and is one of only four Ohio state forests with all-terrain vehicle trails, the only one in northwest Ohio. It is also an important remnant of the oak openings habitat that once stretched across much of northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan.
