Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve is a one thousand one hundred six-acre refuge in Grand Teton National Park at the south end of Phelps Lake in Wyoming. The land began as Dave Spalding’s eighteen oh three homestead, became Jackson Hole’s first dude ranch under Louis Joy and Struthers Burt, and later served as a Rockefeller family retreat after its purchase in nineteen thirty-two. Most of the ranch was eventually given to the national park, and Laurance S. Rockefeller completed donation of the final parcel in two thousand seven after restoration removed ranch structures and repaired the landscape. Today it preserves diverse habitats, offers lake and mountain views, and includes a low-impact visitor center dedicated in two thousand eight.
