Parker Mountain is part of the Catskill Mountains of New York, east-northeast of Hunter, within a tightly grouped cluster of peaks. Nearby are Onteora Mountain to the west, Stoppel Point to the east, Black Dome to the north-northeast, Star Rock to the east-northeast, and Thomas Cole Mountain to the north. Rather than standing as an isolated summit, it belongs to a rugged section of the range where several mountains rise in close proximity. Its significance lies in its place within this compact mountain landscape and its relationship to several better-known neighboring peaks.
