The site's history includes a pioneer burial ground in 1800, the Methodist Episcopal Society in 1821, the original cemetery association in 1866, a new cemetery association in 1893, the Chase Brothers nursery annex in 1947, and HF Community Cemetery in 2003. The surrounding community history includes primary Seneca habitation to 1687, the Phelps and Gorham purchase in 1788, Norton's Mill founded by Zebulon Norton in 1792, West Mendon with a post office established in 1822, and Honeoye Falls incorporated as a village in 1838.
