Mount Stone is a 6,612-foot peak in Washington's Olympic Mountains and the highest point in Mason County, rising more than 2,000 feet above the surrounding terrain as a major summit on the range's southeast side. Commonly reached from North Hamma Hamma Road, it involves a strenuous round-trip climb of about 11 miles, roughly 5,000 feet of elevation gain, and a class 3 rock scramble, whether done in a day or as an overnight trip with camping near Lake of the Angels. In clear weather, its summit offers wide views of nearby Olympic peaks. Its marine west coast climate brings heavy winter precipitation, wet snow, avalanche danger, and runoff into tributaries of the Duckabush, Hamma Hamma, and Skokomish rivers.
