Cave Creek Museum in Cave Creek, Arizona, preserves the prehistory, history, and culture of the Cave Creek and Carefree foothills through indoor galleries and outdoor exhibits. Founded in 1968 by local volunteers on land donated by Frank and Hazel Wright, it opened in April 1970 with a mission of education, research, and interpretation. Its collections and spaces cover archaeology and regional history, especially mining, military, settler, and ranching life in the foothills. Notable outdoor features include Cave Creek’s first church, built in 1948, Arizona’s last tubercular cabin, built in 1920 and later listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and important mining equipment from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
