Pioneer Living History Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, grew from a 1956 preservation effort to save territorial and early statehood buildings threatened by development. Opened in 1969, the 90-acre site brings together original and reconstructed structures dating roughly from 1870 to 1910 to show how early Arizonans lived and worked. Its collection includes significant buildings such as the Ashurst Cabin, Phoenix Bakery, Flying “V” Cabin, and other homes, schools, and ranch structures, alongside recreated shops, a church, stage stop, fort, town ditch, and cemetery. Despite a near closure in 2010 over land and utility problems, it remained open and continues to preserve Arizona’s pioneer-era architecture and community life.
