Plattekill Mountain
History
1
Plattekill Mountain is a privately owned ski resort in Roxbury in New York’s Catskill Mountains, built around a 3,500-foot summit and a 2,400-foot base with a 1,100-foot vertical drop over 40 trails. Owned by the Hinkley family from the late 1950s to the early 1990s, it became known for some of the region’s steepest and most demanding terrain. After foreclosure and a brief transfer to the Small Business Administration in 1992, Lászlo Vajtay purchased it in 1993. Since then, upgrades to lifts, snowmaking, and grooming have supported its evolution into a year-round destination for winter sports and summer events.
