Vincent Williams was an early settler and noted Indian fighter of the South Branch who lived on Patterson’s Creek near Fort Pleasant. During a July 16, 1756, attack on his home, he killed five Native Americans before he was killed and his body mutilated. His son, Col. Vincent Williams, later visited Shawnee Chief Killbuck, who referred to Williams, the father, as “a brave warrior.”
